“Retreat is a word or signal used by an army force or a group of people when they fall back or withdraw from a battle or war, we gather here today to retreat but not to withdraw from our duty but to take a step back and scan or take a good look on our Tonga Football Association boat and to find better and new ways on how to fulfill our duty and improve football in Tonga as a Team” TFA President Lord Ve’ehala on his opening remarks.
Tonga Football Association Staffs along with its Executive Committee members gathered for a one day retreat on Wednesday 8th of February at the Liku’alofa Beach Resort in Tofoa. 35 staffs with 7 Executive Committe Members from Tongatapu was joined with the Manager of Vava’u Football branch, Manatu Liava’a, Penisimani Fatafehi, Office Manager of Ha’apai, and Maui Tafea the Officer in Charge of ‘Eua Football Association.

The team bonding retreat was started with a prayer from the Chairman of the Audit and Compliance Committee, Rev. Sikaiona Vakatapu before a quick brief of the TFA 2023 Strategies was delivered to the TFA Staffs from the TFA Chief of Football, Kilifi Uele. Reports from a few TFA HOD’s was then followed before the day was filled with activities and group discussions on several ideas on how to improve the organisation and to work as a team.

The day was full of emotions, laughter, tears as staffs from different departments took turn on the stage presenting during the activities lead by the Head of Just Play Programme, Mrs. Palu Tu’amoheloa. Breakfast, Lunch and a Dinner Buffet was provided by the hosting venue with good music and entertainments.

The closing remarks was delivered from the General Secretary with a message “we now have looked at our past, and have found ways to solve our short comings. Let us all work together as a team for our Tonga Football Association with winning spirit through compassionate Love and with that we can all say I now live for Jesus, there is no turning back”.
