Fata’ulua and Petani triumphs in ‘Eua Grassroots Competition 2022

‘Eua Football Associaiton’s Grassroots Competition has wrapped up with Fata’ulua winning the Under-12 Boys Division and Petani winning the Under-12 Girls Division. According to EFA’s Manager, Maui Tafea the teams has improved a lot from last year’s competition and they are looking forward to upgrade from grassroots competition to a youth 11’s aside competition next year.

Petani Under 12 Team

“20 Boys teams and 12 Girls teams registered for this year’s competition and we divided them into 4 pools for the boys and 2 pools for the girls division. The kids has improved a lot not only in their knowledge of the rules but also in their basic skills and credit goes to our Development Officer, Po’oi Vaka who works along with the TFA Grassroots Development Officer, Lui Muavesi running grassroots programmes in the communities of ‘Eua every week”.

“Also I would like to acknowledge the hard work of our referees and credit goes to our Referees Instructor, Fekita Vea and Veimau Fetu’u with the help of the Head of the Referees Department, Mr. Tevita  Vea and we witnessed on the competition our referees has improved a lot and we are looking forward for a better and a bigger competition here in the future” Mr. Tafea added.

Fata’ulua played against ‘Ohonua in the boys final winning 3-2 and Petani went up against Sapa’ata team in the Girls final.

Fata’ulua Under 12 Team

Fata’ulua’s head coach, Samuela Latu also expressed his appreciation for the parents and supporters of the team for the money donation that enabled them to fully prepare for the competition and to buy the team new football gears. “I was confident that we will win this year’s competition because the kids had put on a lot of effort in their preparation and training”.

TFA’s Competition Officer, Hemaloto Polovili was also present at the finals alongside TFA’s Head of the Referees department, Tevita Vea to witness the exciting games played in the Malau Field in Angaha.
