Both Veitongo FC Women’s and Men’s Team won back to back title
Veitongo Football Club has retained their title for another year in the TFA Futsal League competition after both their women and men senior teams won both finals tonight at the ‘Atele Indoor Stadium. The curtain raiser match for the finalists were the senior men’s final where Veitongo FC went up against Lotoha’apai United in a very exiciting match which resulted in a win 3-0 to Veitongo FC. There were also a few of the Tonga National Futsal Men’s team players playing on each team as their home team and they showcased the quality of national player profile representation that is of the Tonga National team. Two goals in the first half were scored by Sione ‘Uhatahi and Oliveti Vai with one last goal scored by Tonga’s National team striker; Hemaloto Polovili who also scored in the second half securing a back to back victory in the TFA Futsal League competition.
With an exciting crowd at the ‘Atele Indoor Stadium who cheered supports to the final match was another thrilling game when Veitongo FC played a very tough opponent; the Nukuhetulu FC women’s team. Coming from down in the bottom four in last year’s TFA Futsal League to the finals this year, the Nukuhetulu FC with great determination had been working hard and demonstrated super performance to earn that final spot in this year’s competition.
Both teams went in to second half of the game with still no team scoring and then with a few minutes left for full time, Veitongo FC’s ‘Ana Polovili scored a kick from the corner to seal the win for their team.
TFA Futsal League cups were then presented to both teams at a prize-giving ceremony at the end of the finals followed by the Closing Remark from the Tonga Football’s President, Lord Ve’ehala and with closing prayers by the Tonga Football’s CEO, Mr. Lui ‘Aho.
