First XI to play Tahiti named by head coach
Tonga National U-19 Men’s team will open their campaign in the OFC U-19 Championship tomorrow night against the host country’s side and head coach Timote Polovili is confident that the team is ready to go in to the field. “First of all the team is in good condition since no one is sick or unable to play so I am excited for tomorrow. We had put a lot of effort into our preparation and I trust that all our preparation including our friendly games has given the boys enough confidence to face any team in the competition.

“Although our team is still facing a typical problem in the technical area which includes passing and ball control, we try and encourage the team that with a strong mindset and their willingness to win this game they will overcome these problems in the field tomorrow night. Our opponent tomorrow has an advantage over us in the technical area but I trust our team’s fitness which will be our advantage for tomorrow, Mr. Polovili added.
The Tonga National Under 19 Men’s team landed in Tahiti on the 2nd after a friendly game with the New Zealand National Under 19 Men’s which New Zealand won 9-0. Also joining the team last Saturday is the team’s trainer Mr. ‘Alipate Filimoemaka.
