Tonga will play two games in New Zealand, one against New Zealand’s National Men Under 19
Tonga U-19 National Men’s Team has departed for Auckland, New Zealand to play two friendly games as part of their preparation for the OFC U-19 Championship before they will head on to Tahiti. 31 travelling squad includes 25 players and 6 officials with the team trainer unable to travel for vaccination issues.
Despite being underdogs in this competition, head coach Timote Polovili has confidence on the team according to the hard work and tireless training they have put in the very short time they have prepared for the competition.
“We worked and trained hard in the past one and a half months and the team is ready but we need the prayers and support as we all know the limits of man is the beginning of God and we really need the support not only from families but also from the people of Tonga”.

The team will play Aorere College’s first XI on Saturday before they face New Zealand’s Under 19 National Team in a friendly match in the 1st of September. The team will depart for Tahiti on the 2nd of September and prepare for the their first match of the competition against Tahiti on the 9th. Tonga will play their second pool match against Fiji in the 12th and their final pool match will be against Papua New Guinea in the 15th of next month.
