As halftime approached, Tonga further asserted their dominance, with forward Sione ‘Ainu’u converting a penalty to give Tonga a commanding 3-0 lead heading into the break.

Following halftime, Papua New Guinea regrouped, eager to mount a comeback. However, Tonga remained relentless in their pursuit of victory.
