A three days Talent Development Refresher Course confirmed the launching of the first TD Centre as a pilot for rest of the three TD Centres next week. The course commenced on Monday for coaches from the four TD Centres with only TD Coaches from the Vava’u Centre absent due to travelling issues.

With 12 Coaches participating, the refresher course focussed on the curriculum of the Talent Development Scheme before coaches will launch their TD Centres as explained by Tonga Talent Development Manager, Hemaloto Polovili.
“After TDS was introduced by FIFA Consultant, Tony Readings in May, the Coaches from each of the four TD Centres began their scouting of potential and talented players from each district. Scouting was done during the TFA Youth League and have been following up with each Centres and now I think they are ready to launch.”
“The first plan was to launch all four TD Centres at same time in September but we change that after a feedback from Tony Reading to launch one TD Centre as a pilot for the rest of the TD Centres. Vahe-Loto Centre has successfully selected 24 young player between the age of 13-15 years old and they will be the pilot TD Centre launching next week Wednesday.” Hemaloto Polovili to TFA Website.

The course was conducted by TFA Chief of Football, Kilifi Uele and assisted by Technical Advisor, Jagdish Reddy and Hemaloto Polovili. Tonga Just Play Manager, Palu Tu’amoheloa had the opportunity to conduct a Safe Guarding session in the last day of the course.
During the closing of the course, TFA General Secretary, Lui ‘Aho had the privilege of presenting to the Vahe-Loto Centre TD Coaches their $10,000+ worth of equipments and gears which they will be using to run the Program starting from next week. This includes training equipments, bags, outfit, cameras and different other equipments.

24 Players from Vahe-Loto includes 12 boys and 12 girls had joined the course during the Practical sessions. Launching will take place on Wednesday morning next week with a short program to be held in the Loto-Tonga Football Centre.
