The TFA National U16 | U19 Women’s Team Trials and Senior Women’s National Team Train-on Squads trials have commenced at TFA Headquarters grounds on a Monday and Wednesday afternoon from 5 pm starting time.
Training and trial matches are currently being conducted on Monday’s for the U16 and U19 girls to identify potential Tongan National Youth Team Players.
Up to 45 enthusiastic young Tongan female players are testing and refining their football skill with some noticeable improvements. The TFA National Women’s Coach has been assisted by several senior national team players and the TFA Goalkeeper Development Coach.

On a Wednesday afternoon the U19 girls and senior women also train and play matches, several U19’s girls have shown that they have the potential to be part of the senior women’s national team to represent Tonga at the Pacific Games in November 2022.
The Under 19 trials are to identify potential players to represent Tonga at the OFC U19 Championship in July 2023. Several U16’s girls have shown that they also have the ability to be identified as potential U19 squad players.
The U16 girls’ trials are to identify potential players to represent Tonga at the OFC U16 Championships in September 2023 in Tahiti.
“I have been impressed with the number of players attending and their level of commitment”, said Connie Selby TFA National Women’s Coach. “I would like to thank the clubs for nominating their players to attend these training sessions and to the parents of the girls for bringing them”, Selby said.
“Any potentially talented girls | women who are excited and willing to commit to representing Tonga are always welcome to attend training sessions”, Connie Selby also added.
