The draw for the OFC Women’s Nations Cup 2025 has been confirmed, setting the stage for an exciting tournament that will take place in Fiji from July 4 to 19. The announcement was made today at the OFC Home of Football – Te Kahu o Kiwa, in Auckland, New Zealand.
Tonga’s women’s national team, Mataliki, will compete in Group B, where they will face tough opposition from the host nation Fiji, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu. This group presents significant challenges, but also opportunities for Mataliki to make their mark on the regional stage.
In the previous edition of the tournament in 2022, Mataliki advanced to the quarterfinals after finishing third in their group. Despite a loss to Samoa and a draw with the Cook Islands, their performance was enough to secure a knockout stage appearance. Their campaign ended in heartbreak, however, as they fell to Papua New Guinea in a penalty shootout after a thrilling 3-3 draw in regulation time.

Now, with a renewed squad and a desire to improve on their last performance, Mataliki will be looking to make a deeper run in the competition.
Defending champions Papua New Guinea have been placed in Group A, alongside Samoa, Tahiti, and the Cook Islands. Meanwhile, Group B promises intense battles, with Fiji aiming to capitalize on home advantage, the Solomon Islands looking to build on recent progress, and Vanuatu eager to prove themselves.
For Mataliki, the draw presents both obstacles and opportunities. Facing the host nation Fiji will be a major test, while matches against the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu could determine their path to the knockout stages. With proper preparation and a strong mindset, Tonga will be hoping to advance beyond the group stage and challenge the region’s top teams.
