FIFA Futsal Referee Instructor, Neil Poloso was warmly greeted by the Ha’apai Football Association’s President, Rev. ‘Ifalemi Malafu along with Ha’apai Football Manager, Mr. Peni Fatafehi joined with 23 participants in the opening ceremony of the 4th FIFA-MA Beach Soccer Referees Course to be conducted in the Island of Ha’apai for the local Beach Soccer Referees.

“On behalf of FIFA and OFC they send their greetings to the Tonga Football Association also to the Ha’apai Football Association for continuing to organise the referees development courses such as this one which is the beach soccer referees course in Ha’apai”.
“One of FIFA’s global vision is to continue to develop the three codes of Football which is Football, Futsal and Beach Soccer all around the Member Associations of FIFA and the activity we are starting today here in Ha’apai is one of that global vision which is to develop Beach Soccer around the region and of course in behalf of FIFA they are very thankful and appreciative for the work done by Tonga Football Association and also here the Ha’apai Football Association for the development of the game here”.

“In terms of growing of the game here, this is my second trip to conduct FIFA Referees Course but during the pandemic I conducted the course for Tonga Online as well and I can already see the that the game has a very brighter future here in Ha’apai because we have the people who work in the game, the people who supports in the development of the game, the TFA and the Referees department and also the HFA they are very aggressive and want to see that the game is developing fast here in Tonga so I’m happy to see the progress from the past years since I was here and since the game was first introduced here in Tonga”. This course will focus in one important topic which is the changes in the laws of the game. Mr Poloso explained that many laws of the game changed and also new laws were implemented for the game in between the time he last conducted the course here in Tonga to this year. “We’ll give them the important considerations and guidelines or key topics of the laws of the game so that when they go out and referee in the games here they will apply the same laws that is applied around the world in Beach Soccer”. This Course will start today Monday 14th November and will finish on Friday 18th. Mr. Neil Poloso will be assited by TFA’s Referees Director, Mr. Tevita Vea and TFA Referee Technical Instructor, Koli Vakatapu. Also session will be conducted by TFA’s Information Technology Officer, Mr. Tevita Tu’amoheloa.
