“This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:4 quoted by Rev. Fetu’u Vea.
Every good thing must come to an end, OFC Senior C License Course was officially closed by Rev. Fetu’u Vea, Senior Vice President and Chairman of the Finance and Technical Committee.
Rev. Vea expressed how pleased he is with all the training conducted here aiming to uplift the standard of football here in Tonga.
“Nowadays, it’s very vital to be accredited as you don’t know your journey. You might migrate to NZ or Vanuatu, and you could possibly find a job with your certificate,” Vea emphasized.
“Go out and pass on the knowledge to develop our younger players as they need you,” he urged.
This OFC Senior C License Course was delivered by Mr. Kilifi Uele, the TFA Technical Director, and this is the first time for Uele to deliver the OFC Senior C License for Tonga. Uele was also accredited with OFC A License last year.
With the vision of the Tonga Football Association to develop High Performance Coaches, Uele explained that the training conducted was with emphasis around the following objectives:
i) Providing experiences preparing coaches to be better adapted to new challenges
ii) Training Coaches to Plan, Prepare, Conduct and Evaluate appropriate coaching sessions
iii) Enhance understanding of basic and general principles of the game.”
With the above objectives, I put emphasis on leadership because it’s very important for us coaches to understand our roles,” Uele elaborated.
“Before the closing of this course, I reminded the participants to take responsibility; to pass on their knowledge to develop TFA future players (High Performance Players), and continue on with the Coaching Careers. Also to grow personally and professionally through Training and Education,” Uele highlighted.
At the end of this 5 days course, the 22 participants will continue on doing few assessments, and mentoring coaches in the next 6 months before receiving their certificates. Uele has set out his schedules and plans for assessment to closely monitor their progress as follow-ups.
The Coach Pathway is a carefully planned out scheme for Football professionals to guide them in pursuance of a career in football or simply passion for football guidance. All participants of the workshop are from our supportive Football family here in Tonga. Football officials were flown from the outer islands to attend this pivotal training of coaches.
Just like the Team Leader for the Women in Football expressed “ I am so thankful that I was permitted to participate at this high level course, as I wish to inspire those young women coaches that are on the pathway that they can do this,” Adelaide Tu’ivailala is a licensed coach recognised by OFC.
“I was accredited with a C license before in 2015, and now I’m working hard to be accredited with OFC Senior C License,” she added.
“I wish to extend my sincere appreciation to Kilifi Uele for being the Best Coach and I’m so grateful for his fun and engaging approach to training the adult participants. It made the lessons interesting and motivated me to want to learn,“”As a graduate teacher, skills and techniques for teaching young learners are different from teaching adult learners.” Tu’ivailala explained.
“Sky’s the limit, will pursue for B License in the near future,” she said.
