2016 Tonga FA Premier men’s champion, Veitongo FC hit the max of their preparation for the upcoming OFC Champions League Qualifier that scheduled to kick off here in Tonga on Saturday 28th January 2017.
The Veitongo FC was in the previous qualifying championship stage 1 that was held in the Cook Islands in 2016, so this will be their second appearance in this same kind of qualifiers. The team consists of local players but they have been working hard tremendously in their training with hope they could steal one seat for the next stage.
Most of the players from 2016 are still in the team including Hemaloto Polovili. Polovili is one of Veitongo’s key player. Polovili has been representing Tonga since he was 14 years of age, for Under 17, Under 20s and also part of the Tonga National team participating in the FIFA World Cup qualifying in 2015. Polovili also attended one of the Coerver Coaching Summer camping in Auckland, and now he is one of the most competent player in the front line.
‘’The result of our first participating in 2016, was not satisfied, but I hope my team mates will put extra efforts in this tournament to make our dream comes true,’’Polovili says.
‘’Bring this qualifier to our soil gives us bonus,’’ he added.
