Tonga Football Association Competitions Manager Penateti Feke is representing Tonga at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup France 2018 after being appointed as a competition coordinator for the tournament which got underway this month.
Feke is currently the team captain for the Tonga National Women’s team and has been coordinating local competitions for the past ten years.
Feke has also worked closely with OFC to assist with competitions for the region, but was still very surprised and thrilled to receive her appointment from FIFA.
“I would like to thank our regional office, OFC for the recommendation, I know it is going to be very challenging for me,” Feke says.
“This is my first time to see match organisation, competition management and team events at FIFA level! It will be completely different from what we have here in the kingdom and in the Oceania region in terms of stadiums and organisation so I am looking forward to learning a lot from this,” Feke added.
“I am feverish to be in France and to be part of the team working on this FIFA U-20 WWC,’’ she said.
Feke will be working at the Stade du Clos Castel for the next three weeks assisting the General Coordinator at this stadium.
Mr. Franck Castillo, OFC General Secretary, expressed that this is part of OFCs commitment to building the capacity of staff in all its Member Associations.
TFA President Lord Ve’ehala also congratulated Feke on her appointment, and he urged her to go out there and do her utmost best.
Tonga Football is very grateful for the opportunity that shared from FIFA and we wish you Feke the very best.
