Men and Women Finals booked

In the first men’s semis, current major league champions, Lotoha’apai showed new comers, Palangi United, some classic football with Lafaele Moala opening scoreboard 10 minutes in into the game.
Palangi United Captain, Chris Williams equalized nine minutes later but nerves got in the way for Palangi united with foul play and the referee awarding a penalty kick to Lotoha’apai’s Timote Polovili who found a good finish in front of the goal to take the lead, which was further increased by Lafaele Moala’s second Goal.
Sinali Eke’s full volley into the goal improved the score margin for Palangi United taking the game to 2-3 to lotoha’apai at half time but it wasn’t enough to secure the first final spot as Loto ha’apai’s Matana Paongo and Ma’ake Uhatahi secured the win for lotoha’apai with a further two goals in the second half with a final score of 5-2.
Meanwhile, early mistake by Ngeleia with an own goal by Petesa Ongosia from Malakai Moeaki’s shot and a classic goal by Marist’s Kinitoni Falatau cost them a lost to Marist who defeated Ngeleiai warlords 2-1 to book the second men’s final spot.
The Warlords only managed to come back into the game in the dying minutes of the second half with Ika Saafi’s goal but it wasn’t enough as the minute hand comes to a stand still.
In the women’s division, Nukualofa 11 defeated Lapaha 1-0 in a tight match for the first final spot, while Toa Ladies put on an excellent showdown with what was the best goal of the day from Toa Ladies defender, Penateti Feke, securing a win over opponents Veitongo 1-0.
The 2011 Challenge Cup will see long time rivals Lotoha’apai and Marist competing for the top spot in the men’s division, while Toa Ladies will try to defeat veteran women’s team, Nukualofa Eleven in the women’s division this Saturday
