Lotoha’apai gearing up for O-League Preliminary

The tournament will kick-off on May 1st and United, who has been dominating Tonga Football Association’s Major League competition in the last decade will play the best Club from American Samoa, Cook Islands and Samoa, vying for spot in the Oceania’s most premium Club competition next year – 2013 O-League.
Leading the charge is Lotoha’apai United FC President, Mr. Lui ‘Aho, who believes his team has the potential to win.
“We have a good squad which includes youngsters and some vast experience players, current and former international representative. I also have members from our U-23 national team and behind them will be our backbone players like former test captain Kilifi Uele and former Fijian flyer Lui Muavesi.” he said.
“So I am confident that United will be unstoppable and should not have a problem in the Preliminary round.” Lui added.
The team has been training for two weeks under the watchful eyes of coach Timote Polovili.
Polovili alleged that fitness is their only challenge at the moment and they are working hard on it.
“Most of the players has been inactive since our last competition in November last year and we are focusing on leveling their fitness.” he said.
“Apart from that, we work on our playing techniques and sharpening our playing skills by working on our game plans and I believe that things will fall into good shape come the tournament.” Polovili added.
The tournament format will be finalized soon OFC Competition Department but the winner in Tonga next month will proceed and play against the bottom finisher in the 2012 O-League for the right to compete in the 2013 edition.
