Tonga 1 – Cook Islands 1

The sound of laughter and cheers echoing, and more importantly the expression on Tongan fan at the Home of Football in Loto-Tonga Soccer Centre during the opening match
of the 2016 OFC U-20 Championship Preliminary matches when Tonga took up Cook Island and they drew 1 – 1.
‘’Well, first of all I would like to thank my players for their dedication and committments on the field throughout the 90 minutes as they played to their best abilities. I am also excited because one of our game plan is to score a goal in the first half and they did scored within 31 minutes.’’ says Tevita Moala the Head Coach for Tonga.
The Cooks gave my boys a tough game and they are very organised as well and that is something for us in preparing to face American Samoa and Samoa,’’ he added. ‘’We have more chances to win, but we were not able to finish it probably.’’
‘’Now our focus is with our next game against American Samoa, and I now put up my game plan for them with hoping to the best,’’ Moala said.
‘’This is my first game internationally and I could not believe that I scored a goal for Tonga,’’ said Talatala Poói, No. 15 for Tonga U-20 team. ‘’When I was selected to be a member of the Tonga National U-20 Men’s team, and I have been praying to God to give me the strength so I can contribute good stuff for my country. I know God is with me,’’ he added. ‘’My favourite bible verse is Philippians 4:13.’’
Tonga will take up American Samoa on the second day match on Friday 24th June 2016 at the Loto-Tonga Soccer Field.
