Tonga to host FUTURO III

The workshop was announced by FIFA late last year is scheduled to take place from 1 to 7 February at the Fa’onelua Convention Centre in down town Nuku’alofa.
The weeklong course will provide some of the OFC’s top referee instructors with a methodology of teaching that is consistent throughout world.
Massimo Raveino of Tahiti and Neil Poloso of Solomon Islands and Kader Touati of France who are members of FIFA’s elite Referee Assistance Programme are leading the course.
FIFA FUTURO III focuses on the education of member association’s instructors in topics of coaching, refereeing, administration, management and sports medicine and the course will center in training of referees technical instructors and fitness instructors.
Participants are expected from all eleven member associations of OFC, Tonga included and will provide Oceania referee instructors with the opportunity to develop and practice their skills. Along with the in-class presentations, referee instructors will be required to demonstrate practical coaching and education skills on the pitch using local players and referees to complete the drills.
TFA’s Referee Development Officer, Tevita Vea, welcomes the opportunity to play host.
“This is the first time for us to host such important event and its timely as Tonga has proven to the world that we can produce world class referees with the likes of Tevita Makaisni and Lataisia Tuifutuna, now we need to take it up to the next level.”
The host country will facilitate four referee instructors and two fitness, while other member Associations are sending two Technical Instructors and a fitness instructor each.
