The program will be a 30-minute biweekly magazine/documentary show that will focus in promoting, advertising, educating and encouraging football in Tonga.
TFA general secretary, Mr. Lui ‘Aho inspired the idea as another rock solid foundation for developing the Game in a nation that football is not their favorite sport.
“TonFoot is the latest tool we desire to provide a window into what the general public thought about TFA, the game of football itself in both Tonga and around the world.”
“The whole idea is to advance our development plans and strategies through publicizing and exposing our local activities a little bit more and also football’s movement around the region and the world to get people’s attention.” ‘Aho said.
The program will be divided into three main sections that will feature varieties of local, regional and world football news and intresting stories, information and advertisement of TFA’s activities, football’s domestic, regional and globally progresses, football notices and even up to education materials for non-football fans.
“TFA is striving towards its goal of building football to become Tonga’s number 1 sport in the future and to win that, we will have to get the public’s taste but they will have to understand us more. So I believe that this program will put us a lot more closer to our goal.” ‘Aho added.
TonFoot will be hosts and produce by Tonga Football Association’s Media & Communication Officer, Mateaki Heimuli and will be aired at Tonga Broadcasting Commission’s AM Radio Station – “Radio Tonga 1”.
Meanwhile, TFA’s Media Department is planning to start airing a TV version of TonFoot by the end of the year.
