Just Play shape up their volunteers!

Sport 2 Life concept was designed by UNICEF Namibia (2013) to assist coaches (sporting) from the community to facilitate positive outcomes by helping children aged 13 to 16
to develop the skills to make consistent, long term healthy lifestyle choices on and off the field of play.
In her introduction, Úhatahi says, ‘’this year UNICEF PACIFIC together with OFC Just Play adapted the Sports 2 Life concept to be piloted in three OFC members association,
this includes Tonga. This is a pilot course only and hoping to succeed.” Úhatahi also added, ‘’to equip just play volunteers with skills and knowledge to be able to utilize Just Play
programme to help promote healthy lifestyles and risk reduction behaviours among young people. Risks behaviours include alcohol, violence, teenage pregnancy and many risk
factors make it hard for young people to successfully navigate positive choices and remain healthy, both physically and emotionally.”
This ‘3 days Workshop’ is led by the Tonga Just Play team with the assistant of Ms. Emmie Sope, the Just Play Technical Co-ordinator from OFC and Matelita Yuakoso,
the Co-facilitator and a volunteer of the Just Play from Fiji.
Just Play is a sport development programme designated for children aged 6-12 years and it was started in 2009. Through the OFC Just Play Programme children learn, grow and
explore sport in a positive and meaningful way through integrating the social messages into all sessions and activities, and children learn to develop healthy lifestyles habits.
This programme also include people with disabilities, support and encourage gender equality; and encourages the schools’ and communities’ engagement.
Tonga Football is forever grateful to UNICEF PACIFIC Australian Government, New Zealand Government, UEFA, FFA and OFC for their continuous support of Just Play program all over Oceania.
