Just Play is a sport for development with four objectives:
1. To increase healthier lifestyle choices and to reduce the risk factors associated with NCDs
2. To promote gender equality and change perceptions towards women and girls and to create opportunities and pathways to promote empowerment among women and girls.
3. To increase opportunities and encourage social inclusion of persons with special needs and to promote a change of perception towards persons with special needs in the wider community.
4. To increase understanding of child protection issues and promotes safe/protective environments in communities.
Responsibilities
The Project manager will adapt and develop the Just play program, assure transparency and quality of activities, supervise and train staff, track expenditures, manage monitoring and evaluation, and conduct reporting. This position reports directly to the TFA Chief Executive Officer and OFC head of Social Responsibility. Additional responsibilities include supporting fundraising activities, promoting Just Play, maintaining/developing partnerships. This is a full time position based in Tongatapu.
Program Development
Manage, improve, and develop the current Just Play program.
Transparency and Quality of Activities
Assure program activities are of highest possible quality, meet deadlines, provide on-the-ground results, and build local capacity. Provide transparent, accurate information to participants, community members, staff, Board of Directors, donors and supporters. Promoting shared learning between partners and other stakeholders involved in the project, recording and documenting best practices arising from the program.
Ensure local communities ownership for sustainability of the project.
Work closely with the Technical Director to create a clear pathway between Just Play school and Community and the grassroots strategy.
Staff Training
Train current staff, assist the TFA CEO to recruit new Just Play employees,
Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)
Administer the Just Play tools to evaluate program impact and organisational capacity. Analyze data and incorporate recommended changes into programs and internal structures. In collaboration with other project stakeholders, lead the preparation of a consistent monitoring program based on the project and current M&E systems
Reporting
Provide a weekly activity report, quarterly activity and financial reports with copy of invoices and Just Play bank statement, mid term and financial activity school and community reports, 6 month activity report and annual activity report, assist in writing reports for individual donors and foundations, provide necessary photos/videos to supplement reports to OFC Head of Social Responsibility and TFA CEO.
Reports may include descriptions, media, and financial data.
Other: Additional responsibilities include supporting fundraising activities, materials warehouse management, basic logistics as needed, maintaining and develop partnerships.
Supervision
The project manager will be the primary supervisor for all local just play staff and volunteers. He/she will report directly to the TFA Chief executive Officer and head of OFC Social responsibility. The project manager will work closely with the Board of TFA and the President.
Opportunities
The Just Play project manager will have ample opportunity to take a leadership position in Just play Tonga growth and direction. He/she will be able to design new projects and initiatives in sport for development area, conduct unique outreach programs in remote areas of Tonga, and travel domestically or abroad, based on opportunity and resources.
Qualifications
The Project manager must be a flexible, creative, independent leader who is capable of working in challenging circumstances. He/she must be passionate about sport for development long -term development and committed to Just Play and TFA work. A team spirit is essential.
– Bachelor’s Degree in management (or professional experience with at least 1 year in a project management position)
– Knowledge of Tonga and community based development work, including program development, management experience, and monitoring and evaluation skills
– Highly proficient in English in report writing and presentations
– Experience with budgeting, project development, proposal and report writing, and grants management
– Significant leadership experience in project management, program administration and financial management
– Experience in successfully using the media for social change
– Excellent interpersonal, entrepreneurial, and oral and written communication skills
– Ability to work with people at all levels, from high level officials to community leaders
– Deep knowledge of and dedication to Just Play work in Tonga
– Clean background check with compulsory police clearance certificate
Salary
The Project Manager will make a difference in people’s lives every day in Tonga. He/she will have flexibility of work hours, schedules, and specific initiatives.
Remuneration will be based on experience within the range of $25,000 Pa’anga to $30,000 annually.
